The National Alliance of Black School Educators (NABSE) is the nation's premier non-profit organization devoted to furthering the academic success for the nation's children - particularly children of African descent. Now in its 56th year, NABSE boasts an outreach to more than 10,000 preeminent educators including teachers, administrators, superintendents as well as corporate and institutional members. Founded in 1970, NABSE is dedicated to improving both the educational experiences and accomplishments of African American youth through the development and use of instructional and motivational methods that increase levels of inspiration, attendance and overall achievement.

Welcome to BABSE

On behalf of the Broward Alliance of Black School Educators, welcome. Whether you are a longtime member, a new educator just discovering us, or a partner who shares our commitment to student achievement, I am glad you are here.

Our Theme: Rooted & Rising

This year, BABSE is guided by the theme Rooted & Rising.

Rooted speaks to where we come from. BABSE was built by educators who believed that Black students deserve excellence, and who gave their time, talent, and voice to make that belief real in Broward County classrooms. Every program we run today — S.L.I.C.E., our New Teacher Academy, our Scholarship VIP Luncheon — stands on the foundation those educators laid. We honor that history, and we stay grounded in the mission that has carried this organization since its earliest days: an excellent and equitable education for all students, particularly Black students.

Rising speaks to where we are headed. Organizations, like the educators they serve, are always growing. This year brings new leadership, renewed energy, and a clear-eyed commitment to strengthening BABSE from the inside out — deepening our programming, growing active membership, and building the kind of infrastructure that allows this work to outlast any one leader or one term. Rising is not about leaving our roots behind. It is about drawing strength from them and reaching further than we have before.

Together, these two words capture exactly where BABSE stands right now: firmly connected to our purpose, and actively building toward what comes next.

An Invitation

BABSE is strongest when our members are engaged, not just enrolled. I encourage you to attend an event, join a committee, mentor a new teacher, or simply reach out and introduce yourself. This organization belongs to every educator who believes in the work we do, and there is a place here for you.

Thank you for being part of the BABSE family. I look forward to rising with you this year.

In service,
